Molecularly Targeted Therapies

This program aims to identify therapeutic targets and validate novel treatment strategies for tumor entities, in which sequencing of the tumor genome has not unequivocally identified druggable pathway aberrations and therapeutic strategies. The major focus of this program is on solid tumors. The concept underlying this research program poses that the need to drive unrestricted growth in energetically challenging conditions is a unifying hallmark of tumors independent of their specific genetic make-up. As a result, solid tumors share molecular features such as an altered energy metabolism and the loss of critical controls that monitor protein synthesis and degradation. The aim of this program is to identify therapeutic opportunities that arise from this deregulation.
