Karlsruhe Web Performance Group Kickoff Meetup: Web vs Native @ Facebook (Jackson Gabbard, Facebook, London)
The first Meetup of the Karlsruhe Web Performance Group will be hosted by the chair for Software Design and Quality.
At the first meetup of the Karlsruhe Web Performance Group, Jackson Gabbard (Mobile Engineer at Facebook, London) will talk about the trade-off beween HTML-based and native application programming. Perfomance was a key issue when Facebook decided to switch from HTML-only to native applications on mobile devices (http://tcrn.ch/Snhy6h)
Participation at the meetup is free, a registration at the homepage of the Karlsruhe Web Performance group is required.

Abstracts
Jackson Gabbard (Facebook): "Balancing HTML and Native"
The choice of HTML or native is a crucial one that affects the trajectory of a project. The face-value trade offs can lead even the most careful engineer down the wrong path for her or his project. After being an early adopter of HTML as a platform for our mobile applications, Facebook has evolved into a more native system. The reasons for this shift are many and mostly learned at the end of great pains in performance tuning, reliability work, application layout, and user experience. Learn the real-world trade-offs between native application development and HTML from one of the engineers who helped build Facebook mobile.
Dennis Westermann (SAP Research): "Speed is King: Introducing the Karlsruhe Web Performance Meetup"
Not only for Sebastian Vettel speed is the key to success. Also in the IT-World there is a strong correlation between speed and success. As the organizer of the group I'd like to introduce the idea behind the Meetup and hopefully convince you to become and stay an active "KA Web Speeder".
