Five junior research groups will be established at the MSNZ, whose leaders have been recruited in an international, competitive process. They will open up new topic areas for research. The groups are supported with the position of the group leader and two additional scientist positions. The projects will run over a period of 5 years.
Young scientists in early career phases, i.e. as Postdoctoral Fellow (Medical Scientist) or as Doctor in advanced training (Clinician Scientist), can independently lead projects at the MSNZ. These projects will be developed in workshops with experienced PIs who will guide the young scientists and in whose departments the projects will be located.
3 teams of Advanced Clinician and Medial Scientists (research group leaders who are already supported by external third-party funding and who are working on fields relevant to the MSNZ) will collaborate on translational projects using resources from the MSNZ. The projects are of a long-term character and open up new horizons for the participating scientists. In addition, some of the projects develop technological expertise, which will then be available to all researchers of the center.
