Dr. Maarten van den Hoogenhof is a Junior Research Group leader at the University Clinic Heidelberg. He received his PhD from the University of Amsterdam in 2018, and subsequently moved to Heidelberg for his postdoctoral training. He started his own independent lab in 2022, where he focuses on mechanisms of RNA splicing and how this affects functional properties of the heart. His lab uses molecular biology techniques, next generation sequencing technologies, mouse genetics, and iPSC to investigate these processes. Ultimately, his lab's goals are to further our understanding of RNA splicing in the heart, and to use these insights to develop novel therapies for heart disease.
