The roles of the natriuretic peptides

Our research has always been focused on the roles of the natriuretic peptidestheir GC-A and GC-B receptors and the intracellular second messenger cyclic GMP

Our previous projects studied the cell-specific roles and molecular pathways of the cardiac hormones atrial and B-type natriuretic peptides (signalling via GC-A) and the endothelial hormone C-type natriuretic peptide (signalling through the GC-B receptor). To dissect the cardiac and vascular effects of these peptides we combine molecular studies in primary cultured cells (endothelial cells, pericytes, cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts) and functional studies in genetic mouse models with cell-restricted deletions of single components of their signalling pathway (Cre-loxP recombination system).
