Marietta Herrmann studied biology at the RWTH Aachen University (Germany) and graduated in 2007. For her PhD she joined the research group of Prof Jahnen-Dechent at the Helmholtz Institute for Biomedical Engineering at the RWTH Aachen. Her thesis was focused on the role of the plasma protein fetuin-A in the regulation of mineral homeostasis. In 2012, she moved to Davos, Switzerland, to work in the Musculoskeletal Regeneration Program at the AO Foundation Research Institute (ARI), initially as a post-doctoral research associate and between 2015-2017 as research scientist. Here, the main focus of her work was on bone regeneration with emphasis on strategies to promote neovascularization and most recently the role of the immune system in bone healing. In 2017, she took the position as group leader of the IZKF junior research group entitled "Tissue Regeneration in Musculoskeletal Diseases" at the University Würzburg.
Jovana Ilic obtained her degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology from the University of Belgrade in 2015. The following year she completed her Master thesis, with its experimental part being conducted at the Institute for Biological Research “Sinisa Stankovic”, at the laboratory of Immuno-oncology. The object of her thesis was to investigate the anti-tumor effect of tetraphenystannane and tetraphenystannane loaded in SBA-15 mesoporous nanostructured material on human and mouse melanoma under the supervision of Dr. Danijela Maksimovic-Ivanic. In 2020, she is joining the IZKF Research Group Tissue Regeneration in Musculoskeletal Diseases for starting her PhD studies at the University of Würzburg. There, she will be investigating the interaction between myeloma cells and their microenviroment – primarily MSC with the subsequent effects on mutual survival, propagation, stemness and senescence and the interrelation between these occurences.
Sebastian Häusner obtained his degree in Biosciences / Molecular Biology and Tissue Engineering from the University of Wuerzburg in 2021. His thesis was focused on good laboratory practice (GLP) compliant testings on a cartilage based advanced therapy medicinal product (ATMP) within the EU „Horizon 2020“ funded project „BIO-CHIP“ at the Fraunhofer ISC and Department of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine of the University of Wuerzburg. In 2021 he is joining the IZKF Research Group Tissue Regeneration in Musculoskeletal Diseases, in an interdisciplinary research project at the University Hospital of Wuerzburg and the University of Belgrade along with partners from medical industry. There, he will investigate new therapeutic strategies for the reconstruction of bone defects with optimized reamer-irrigator-aspirator (RIA) -derived autologous graft and bone substitute materials.
Katharina Marnet obtained her MSc in Life Sciences in 2021 at the Julius-Maximilians-University of Wuerzburg. She completed her Master thesis at the chair of human genetics focused on the functional analysis of mutations in the ALPL gen on the TNAP function in neuronal cells. During her studies she did an research internship at the University of Wellington (New Zealand) in the group of Prof. Janet Pitman at the School of Biological Sciences. In 2021, she is starting her PhD studies at the University of Wuerzburg in the IZKF Research Group Tissue Regeneration in Musculoskeletal Diseases. Her project will be focused on the molecular mechanisms of the rare disease Primary Failure of Eruption (PFE).

Ana Rita Pereira obtained her MSc in Bioengineering in 2016 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (Portugal). Her thesis was focused on the development of a microfluidic platform to model the human breast cancer bone metastatic niche, which was conducted under supervision of Prof. Meriem Lamghari at i3s (University of Porto, Portugal). During her academic studies she further conducted a research traineeship in the laboratories of Prof. Mário Barbosa (i3s) and an ERASMUS+ research internship in the group of Prof. Matthew Dalby at the Institute of Molecular Cell and Systems Biology, University of Glasgow (Scotland). After her graduation, she moved to Davos (Switzerland) for an internship in the Musculoskeletal Regeneration Program at the AO Foundation Research Institute, where she worked on the development of an on-chip vasculature model. In 2017, Ana Rita Pereira started her PhD studies at the University Würzburg (Germany) in the IZKF Research Group Tissue Regeneration in Musculoskeletal Diseases where she is mainly focused on the microenvironmental influence on stem cell behavior.

Drenka Trivanović studied biology at the University of Belgrade (Serbia) and graduated in 2009. For her PhD she joined the team of Dr. Diana Bugarski at the Laboratory for Experimental Hematology and Stem Cells, Institute for Medical Research, University of Belgrade. Her thesis was focused on the properties of human adipose tissue stromal/stem cells. Between 2015-2017, the main objectives of her investigations was significance of microenvironment for tissue-specific stem/progenitor cell maintenance and activities. In 2017, she is taking the post-doc position in the IZKF Research Group Tissue Regeneration in Musculoskeletal Diseases at the University Würzburg.
