    Molecular/Cell-mediated Imaging

Up to date, the molecular and cellular imaging techniques were added to the established methods to investigate the process of myocardiac healing (Fluor based imaging). An independent branch of research focuses on the modelling of the dynamics of nuclear spins and nanoobjects that is used to develop the quantitative imaging of microstructures (cells, microvessels, contrast agents).

    Functional Imaging

As to the functional imaging, developments that resulted in methods to define the local pulse wave velocity are worthwhile mentioning and they will hopefully support the early diagnosis of arteriosclerosis. SFB 688 and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Research and Treatment of Cardiac Insufficiency jointly support these projects.
