Abstract:
Maintaining cellular energy homeostasis is one of the most important processes of every individual cell. Mitochondrial impairment is detected under many pathophysiological conditions like diabetes, neurodegeneration, oxidative stress and toxicity. In addition metabolic switches have been defined as a major hallmark of cancer and directly control stem cell and immune cell differentiation. During the seminar we will show, how cellular energy metabolism can be measured using a Seahorse XF Analyzer (http://www.seahorsebio.com/) and how this metabolic data can be interpreted in different research areas. The seminar room will be available for more detailed discussions and individually meeting the speakers after 4pm.
